  1. Social workers in most states now have what is called title protection. Those states that do not yet grant title protection to social workers have pending legislation.

    Title protection means that not anyone can be called a social worker. You have to have a bachelor's degree in social work, earned from an accredited college.

  3. A social worker needs no  academic education . He should be able to understand the needs and priorities of the people whome he will be serving and a dedicated will to move and mingle in the surrounding besides having good knowledge .

    You need most of all a Bachelors of Arts or Science Degree. = Undergraduate studies.

    Than you could work in your choosen field, and progress towards getting licensed in your state.

    Than if you want to do counseling or clinical social work, now a days most prefer an advanced Master Degree. You can also earn an LCSW = licensed clinical social worker.

    Minimum a bachelor's degree.  Many jobs are now requiring a master's degree, MSW.  Read above re: social work.  It's a hard job, long hours, overload of cases, and salary is low.  But people do it because they like helping people.  (college psych professor)
