Okay, so in a year I am going to try out for girl's varsity tennis. What level should you be to play on a good varsity tennis team. For example like 3-5, 4-0, 4-5? What do you think? And what can I do to prepare for tryout? Thanks!

  1. 1. How good is the school you are going to.

Well, if you are a 4.0 you should be able to make the team.

  2. 3.5 should be good enough for most teams.    Some weaker teams would be happy to get a 3.0 player to try out.    It depends on the team level of talent.   Practice a lot, and take some lessons if you are not doing so now.   Also, work on conditioning before the tryouts to give yourself the best chance you can.

  3. If you are a 3.5 or better you should be able to make most high school varsity teams.  If you want to prepare for tryouts, try to find some USTA tournaments to play in.  If you are about a 3.5, you should play in challenger 1 or challenger 2 tournaments, but if you think you are better than a 3.5 you could even try a championship level tournament.  You can also try to find a tennis club near you if you haven't already and join that.  The best way to get better at tennis is by playing, play as much as you can and you will see great improvements.
