  1. i have two heat lamps, one with a blue bulb (day light) and one with a red bulb (night light). the blue bulb stimulates day and gives off heat. its at the warm side of the tank. the red bulb gives off a little heat but the red is not visible by the ball pythons eye, they cant actually see the red. this one is on the cool side of the tank. the blue is on during the day when the red is off. the red is on at night when the blue is off. but i dont leave the red light on all night because the tank is on my room and it bothers me. leaving it on for a couple hours is just fine.

UV lights are ok but dont give off enough heat. i bought everything (lamps and bulbs) at petsmart.

    good luck.

  2. Light is actaully not necessary because they are nocturnal. As long as the snake gets some daylight in its tank, and there is a night/day difference, no more light is mandatory but you can use light for heat.

If you use a light hood, you can put in any ordinary household light bulb in.

The other alternative is a heating pad, or even heat tape which will keep the proper temperatures, but not produce any light.

  3. You need just a regular heat lamp and heat light bulb, that's what i use

    Good Luck

Just Research a little on google
