    Mary from Edward 6

    James from Chaz 2

    George from Ed 8

  2. They all got lots of money for doing absolutely nothing

  3. Henry I (c. 1068/1069 – 1 December 1135) succeeded his elder brother William II as King of England in 1100 and defeated his eldest brother, Robert Curthose, to become Duke of Normandy in 1106. Upon his succession he granted the baronage a Charter of Liberties, which formed a basis for subsequent challenges to rights of kings and presaged the Magna Carta, which subjected the King to law.

John I (24 December 1166 – 19 October 1216) succeeded his elder brother King Richard I as King of England in 1199. He is known for acquiescing to the nobility and signing Magna Carta, a document that limited his power and that is popularly regarded as an early first step in the evolution of modern democracy.

Mary I (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558) succeeded her younger brother Edward VI as Queen of England and Ireland in 1553. She is remembered for restoring England to Roman Catholicism after succeeding her short-lived brother. In the process, she had almost three hundred religious dissenters burned at the stake in the Marian Persecutions, resulting in her being called Bloody Mary.

James II and VII (14 October 1633 – 16 September 1701) succeeded his eldest brother Charles II as King of England, Scotland and Ireland in 1685. He was the last Roman Catholic monarch to reign over the Kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Many of his subjects distrusted his religious policies and autocratic tendencies, leading a group of them to depose him in the Glorious Revolution in 1688.

George VI (14 December 1895 – 6 February 1952) succeeded his eldest brother Edward VIII as King of the United Kingdom in 1936. Major events greatly altered the position of the monarchy during his reign. A major consequence of World War II was the decline of the British Empire. King George's reign saw the acceleration of the break-up of the British Empire and its transition into the Commonwealth of Nations.

Note: Each monarch played an important role in shaping the United Kingdom, as we know it today.
