  1. i tip solely based on my drink.  if it sits empty small tip.  bring me the check and never see you again no tip.  friendly and courteous builds bigger tips.  check on your guest but if they look engaged in conversation then don't interrupt them every five minutes.  gage the people and get a feel everyone is different

  2. I am a server they love when you remember them, always get them refills at 3/4 of a drink gone, always be friendly but not loud, unless theyre joking around with you don't be super jokey with them. Be sure and check back a minimum of three times but no more than five, unless you have too. Always check back with them after the first two minutes, this is when they tell you if thier meats not cooked or thier food is cold. never let an order go out wrong, if they're waiting along time explain to them that the kitchen is really slow and than ALWAYS get a manager to talk to them. Customers love having a higher up to complain too and it takes the blame off your shoulders. no matter how stupid or annoying a request is (I.E can you mix me a pepsi lemonade rootbeer fruitpunch please?) Smile big and say of course, i will be right back. and NEVER EVER refer to anyone as 'you guys'...unless they are all guys.

  3. refilling my drink before my glass is empty.

  4. Be knowledgable about the menu, preparation  and ingredients.  Tell us how much the daily special costs.

  5. Act like your g*y. I work with alot of g*y men in restaurants, and I swear the women love g*y men as their serves. They almost always make double what I would make in tips.

  6. when you get another drink for someone always give them a fresh glass - I HATE when they take my dirty glass and refill it.  check in with the table right after their food comes out to make sure everything was correct.  bring some extra napkins without being asked (if its a paper napkin kind of place) and I always appreciate it if they do not charge me for refills (even when they aren't free)

  7. 1.  make sure my water glass is full

    2.  tell me what things are good on a menu...and what things aren't so good.

    3.  leave my near empty plate alone; don't pick it up so doggoned fast.

    4.  read back what we ordered if it's a long list of things, especially how we want it cooked or put together.

    5.  don't insist on going over everything that there is for dessert, especially if we say that we don't want anything.  And, don't roll the %!@!!** desert tray right under our noses, thankyouverymuch.

    6.  stand up straight, look us in the eye, and don't be destracted while you are taking the order, looking around the room while we try to decide what we want.

    7.  If we ask for something, bring it to us immediately - not five minutes later.

    8.  Provide extra napkins - we almost always need more than the one that comes with the silverware.  (or, at least ask)

    9.  Don't be so quick with drink refills.  If it's half empty, leave it alone until it's gone.

    10.  When you bring the check, tell us if we pay up front or if you will be back for it.  Also, give it just a second:  let me have time to reach in and get my credit card out so that I can give it to you right then and don't have to wait for another 10 minutes for you to come by and pick it up.

When I get good service, I tip big-time.

  8. Politeness, and a smile.I tip around $10 at Red Lobster,at the Chinnese buffet i tip deppending on the persons attitude, cause some are rude and they're the ones that dotn't get tips.Smile and be atentive to your costumers and keep up with refills, you'll do fine.

  9. be quiet, get me my food, only speak when spoken too, and have a subtle smile on.
