What locations are good for a winter holiday?

I'm looking to go away for a few holidays between oct to december-jan. Anyone have any recomendations?

South Africa would be nice, no jet lag, it's summer and the weather would be perfect. also the rand isn't so bad at the moment so you'd get a good deal on the exchange rate

i just got back from ny a few weeks ago. its absolutely beautiful at night there. if you go during december, there will be snow, and bright lights. its great. i went during the hot summer and it was still beautiful. i really want to go again. =P and not to mention TONS of fireworks during new year. theres that concert. last year there was mariah carey and famous singers. and theres the famous ball at new years eve. its a great atmosphere
