What looks better - a .52 solitaire with a diamond enhancer (ring wrap) or just with a plain band?

i'm considering asking for a diamond enhancer for our 10th anni. next year...but i don't want to waste the money if i won't like it in the end...and you can't just try them on and decide...they don't have examples you can try on at the jewelry stores around here...cuz the stores claim they would have to carry too many versions in every style and size soooo they just have you pick from a catalog and order it and you get what you get?!?! ugh, i really want one, but i also think my solitaire will look overshadowed by the wrap....cuz its a nice size, but def. not big.

any opinions.

thanks.

  1. You should be able to find something to try on. Keep looking for stores that have something in stock that they will let you put on your finger. EVeryone has a different style, and you need to see what you like on your finger.Even if it isn't  exactly right you can get an idea of how you think an enhancer would look with your ring. I can understand that they can't carry everything, but they need to let you try something on! You could buy online if you aren't trying it on, why should they get the profit just for handing you a catalog?

  2. I like the idea of keeping your engagement ring the way it was when your fiance gave it to you, even if you can afford a bigger diamond or a fancier band now. I guess I'm sentimental. But if you can't try on the enhancer, I'd be super nervous about ordering one.

Maybe you could ask for a gorgeous pair of diamond earrings instead... :)

  3. I think that wraps sometimes can take away from a solitaire, if they are too big.  Look at smaller wraps that won't overshadow your diamond.  I, personally, didn't want a plain wedding band and wasn't a huge fan of wraps.  What I opted for was something similar to this http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?p...  It doesn't  overwhelm the solitaire, give it good proportion, and highlights the diamond.

  4. I wouldnt opt for one if you cant choose and are having to pick out a catalogue! why not ask them then if you can design your own one and they make it up for you? any good reputable jeweller should be able to get this done although they all take different rates, that way you are guaranteed to have something really really special and a one off that you know no-one will have! hope this helps Gilly x
