What looks better on a college application?

taking six classes during soph and juinor year of hs and having a 4.3 and a 4.6

or

taking 7 classes with 0 period and having a 4.2 and a 4.5

and the extra class is a sport

so it the classes with be english math science history language and sport

would colleges rather look at lower gpas and more excurricular activities or high gpas and no excs

  1. No one cares if you took an extra gym class in high school.  

    Sustained dedicated to a sport (more than two years) can make a difference, but your GPA is more important.

    Also, your unweighted GPA is more meaningful than your weighted GPA.  It is very hard to know what a 4.3 really means because schools weight differently.  Colleges focus on the unweighted GPA.


  2. Colleges all recalculate every GPA (because different high schools weigh differently and include different things)  and the sport will be taken out along with other non academic classes for their purposes.
