Hi everyone,

I went to the swimming pool last sunday. After swimming, my face got (very) dry and i felt a little bit itchy. I thought i got some kind of rash on my face. I have acne in my face, so feel itchy is even more uncomfortable :(.

Therefore, I am looking for anykind of lotion, cream or moisturiser that can be used before or after swimming, to prevent my face from being itchy, dry or rash. I like swimming a lot so yea, if i find a cream like i described above, that would be great.

After bathing at home, i usually use EGO QV CREAM for my hand skin, leg, and other areas. My face gets very dry after bathing as well, so i want a lotion to use on my face after bathing. Can i use that QV cream for my face as well? Does that cause any rash or itch if I use it on my face with lots of acne? Or, if you know, please show me a particular brand that is good to use for my face preventing dryness.

I tried to apply QV cream on my face one time, firstly it felt a little bit rash but then normal. When i looked at the mirror, my face became a little bit red (in the region of acne). Is that because of that QV cream or because of any other products that I used before that time? Cos before using that QV on that night, i washed my face with L'OREAL FOR MEN.

Thanks for your advice,

P.S: I am using a medicine called ORATANE for Acne treatment, prescribed by a specialist dermatologist in SA.

  1. Okay so basically, you need to stop using L'OREAL cleansers for the time being. (To help your acne clear up , you need as little irritation as possible and these cleansers are not so gentle). This also means , no scrubs on the face and no toners or astringents. Mayve you should try the regular cetaphil cleanser, it was designed for people with extreme allergies (even to water) so its very gentle, it doesnt foam up , because it has no Sodium Laureth Sulfate or the like (the irritating foaming agent) and no water , so it wont sting existing blemishes. And the last answer was correct as far as the moisturiser goes , cetaphil Moisturiser, not lotion (to thin) or intense (to dense), just the regular one, will do wonders , its so gentle but a very good hydrator and protectant. I even use this on my 2 yr old, and myself daily.QV cream is very good too , but may clog your pores (if you really LOVE QV they have an spf 30+ day cream in QV face range). Also make sure your rinsing your face with water strait after swimming , the salt or chlorine is way to overdrying for your skin. But yeh , steer clear of comercial products , they are good , but were not designed for your condition.

  3. avoid soft drinks and eat three square meals a day.. pervention is key in treating acne

  4. Don't apply the QV on your face if it says its a body lotion.. the skin on your face is more sensitive than your body. you need to cater to your face specifically. if your face is getting really dry as well as break out prone, use anything that is non comodogenic. This will keep your pores clear. since you are on an acne medication your skin needs to be babied right now.. Use nothing like clean and clear or Noxzema.. the chemicals are very harsh. Use cliniderm soothing lotion, anything by spectro jel, glaxal base, avene products,, go to your local drugstore. ask for something non irritating and fragrance free. good luck!

  5. Cetaphil.  If they have it where you're at.  My daughters went to derm for acne and used that while they were on meds.  (Dermatologist worked, by the way and they both had severe acne.  No scarring either.)
