What lubricant should I use for nylon bearings on a metal axle?

  1. A silicon lube is easy on the nylon and fine for the metal. It is clean and It can be found in food service grades also, like for use in a food conveyor.

    Available also in spray cans.


  2. I agree, silicone lubricant.  WD-40 is not good for nylon bearings.

  3. You shouldn't need any.  The nylon bearing is abrasion resistant and slippery.  You can also get MDS filled Nylon bearings that are self lubricating.

    You can look up molybdenum disulfide at McMaster-Carr for a lubricant if you need it.

    If you ad an oil or silicone it will not hurt the nylon but will probably cause more drag and collect dirt.
