What machine can i hire to take up turf of my lawn?

I want to returf my lawn, what is the best way of taking old turf up?

a sod cutter will work well if your yard is flat, they don't do as well on sloped yards.

Stu, rental centers will rent you one of these for like $25/hr.  The blade is about 12" wide and the machine moves pretty well.  I recommend renting it, doing the work, and returning it (before you start picking it up).  If you live close to the rental yard and your lawn is relatively small (less than 1000 sq. ft.) you realistically do it in less than an hour.  $25!!!!

depending on how big your lawn is???

look on the "rotovator" section on the HSS hire shops' online pages,,,, big job tho buddy!
