What made Jindal wake up and notice he needed to veto S.B. 672? The people didnt want the legislators to double the pay. What made him finally wake up?

  1. Gov. Jindal didn't want to tie his own hands behind his back by immediately vetoing the pay raise.  If Gov. Jindal immediately vetoed the bill, the Democratic members of the Legislature would obviously be irritated.  This would make it difficult to work "across the aisle" and thus difficult to pass any new Legislation at all, which was a key part of Gov. Jindal's plan for Louisiana.

    In addition, he began to feel increased pressure from the public.  In case you weren't aware, a petition had gone up to recall Gov. Jindal from Office. These two things coupled together combined to keep Gov. Jindal from vetoing the bill immediately.


  2. Perhaps he finally realized that it is the taxpayer that pays the legislators, so perhaps they should have a voice in whether or not they get a wage increase!

  3. Because he is a smart Republican! And McCain might have him as his running mate.

  4. He never supported the idea.  He just wanted to weigh all of the factors prior to making his decision.  Fortunately, he made the right choice!!!!
