The success of the Arabic Empire was partially due to the conquests and invasions the Arabians made. The land that was once a part of the Sasanian Empire, Egypt, Libya and west of Libya, North Africa and southern Italy were added to the Arabic Empire shortly after the rise of Islam. Because Muslims would be standing up to the non-Arab rulers who had force the Arabians against each other and labeled them as barbarians, and would attain the booty and rich farming land by invading foreign civilizations, Muslims were very motivated to make conquests. Arabs were also motivated due the fact that by invading foreign civilizations, they would be spreading Islam. During the Abbasid Era, the Abbasids built a centralized, absolutist imperial order.

Am I on the right track? Anything to add?

  1. I'm not so sure, but nowadays, the Arabs are so successful because most of the countries where Arabs are found (e.g Iraq, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, etc.) those countries have an excellent source of oil. The world nowadays needs oil for gasoline and people use gasoline for the cars so, I think that Arabs are successful because they have so much oil in the world that people commonly use.

  2. I couldn't reach the end. I fell asleep. Sorry.

  3. Southern italy for the most part was never Muslim, and Sicily only in the ninth-eleventh centuries, when the unitary Caliphate was a thing of the past.

Leave out 'would be standing up to...' as far as 'barbarians and' inclusively.  I'm sure it never entered anyone's head.  The spoil and plunder, specifically promised in the Quran, were certainly a motivation.

Curiously, the spread of the religion was not a major factor.  It was the spread of the RULE of Islam that the early Arabs wanted.  Non-Arab converts or maulas were second-class citizens for a long time.  Many non-moslem religious groups - Jews and heretics - found Arab rule less oppressive than that of the Byzantines.
