What made you stop gambling? How bad was it?

I used to drive 50 minutes to the casino with hundreds of dollars to gamble with on my day's off. It was very rare when I would come back with any money.

I finally was fed up with it after losing $400. At first it was hard not going, but finally I have some extra money in my pockets.

So, I bought myself a bottle of Johnie Walker Blue Label, for a treat. Usually, I would have lost this money in a casino and more.

Now I am getting something for my dollars. I sort of miss the action, but I enjoy having money in my pockets more.

Do you think this is a good way of kicking the gambling habit? How did you get over yours, or are you still "hooked"?

  1. While i am a professional gambler and have had more wins than losses, my losses have not had the effect of making me want to quit, i always perservenered.  One thing worth noting, is that i have learned to accept losses especially large ones,  I have dropped ~7000 dollars in 35 minutes, and there have been many times i lost sizable amounts and after dealing with all of them over and over, my mind no longer becomes stressed and it has carried over to other parts of my life.  When i have a bad day, i am no longer stressed, blackjack has mad me a ballsier tougher individual.

I havnt quit gambling though, i am just on a break for a few months.  The reason i took a break is because i only play blakcjack and i play it for 5-10 hours at a time taking breaks only when i move to another table or casino, it is so boring , i started hating the game

  2. Well for me I drive more than 50 minutes to the casino and there are times when I lose more than $400.00 but it doesn't stop me...it may "sting" but not enough to make me stop...

  3. I'm not sure drinking is better than gambling for your health. Mind you I'm a professional gambler and I drink quite a bit so who am I to judge.

Degenerates should stay out of the casino so you got the first half right but I'd say save the money and do something fun would be better than drinking at home. If you are going to spend it on booze at least go out and drink at a bar.
