  1. Water most definately

    carbon

    a magnetic field

nitrogen / oxygen atmosphere similar to earth's

  2. The basic conditions necessary are those which allow molecules to "learn" to divide. What those exact conditions are, nobody is for certain.

There was an experiment (I'm struggling for the details at the moment) in which there were some chemicals that were isolated in *relatively* primordial Earth-like environment, and these basic chemicals began to form into early cells.

More than likely what is most necessary is a relatively stable environment for an extended period of time, so that life has a chance to happen. Life is not a fluke after all, it is a situation presented by natural circumstances, and as such can only be a natural occurrence.

  3. people often say water, but because we need water foesnt been aliens do, they may not have eyes, legs, arms (ect) we think you need what earth has because we're used to Earth and can't imagine a different kind of life

  4. Peach flavored brandy or maybe peppermint schnapps. You want to read a book called "Planets for Man," by Stephen H. Dole.

  5.   The environment would have to closely parallel earth.
