Ramstein is an "A I R B A S E"

There is no Airport close there, the only one is Frankfurt. If you are military, we landed at Ramstein Airbase before and it was great.

The Major Airport would be Frankfurt. Hahn is out in the sticks and you can fly there for maybe 5 bucks, but then you have to pay for a bus ticket or whatever to get to civilization.

I am sure at the Frankfurt airport you get a ride to Ramstein.

Other airports located near Ramstein would be called regional airports(Like Newark compared to JFK). I know when I lived near Ramstein(Zweibruecken) I did use the Stuttgart airport for some European flights.

The closest MAJOR airport hub to Ramstein AFB is Frankfurt Flughaven (FRA).  Frankfurt-Hahn is not a major airport; it was at one time an Army airfield before being returned to Germany and being used as a small hub for Ryanair.  Also--Frankfurt-Hahn is nowhere near Frankfurt; whereas Frankfurt Flughaven is just outside the city.  Ramstein AFB itself is a major Air Force base, but obviously isn't itself an airport.  Rhein-Main AFB used to be co-located at Frankfurt Flughaven before the base was deactivated and returned to the Germans, who I believe converted it into FRA's third runway.

The easiest way to get between Ramstein and Frankfurt is either by car or by train; the nearest German towns to Ramstein are Kaiserslautern and Landstuhl.

I guess the closest are the big international airport in Frankfurt, the budget airport at Frankfurt-Hahn, or the tiny airport at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden.
