  1. There is no set job description of an Advertising Manager. Some descriptions define the job as a sales position. Others define the job as one that manages advertising for a company or product.

If I were you, I'd study Marketing/Advertising. You will discover that there are other opportunities within the field that you may find even more exciting. Also, if you are able to take an Introduction to Advertising or an Introduction to Marketing class, you might find that to be helpful, as it will provide a more well-rounded overview of the field.

As for me, my major was Communication. I am now the Marketing Director for a national retailer. Just because you start out in one area, doesn't mean you can't grow into another. Plus, you will (hopefully) find that your skill set will continue to grow and develop throughout your career, presenting additional opportunities to you.

    Good luck.

  2. To be a success in marketing, plan on getting an MBA from a good graduate program.  Major in whatever you want -- other than marketing -- as an undergraduate.  Art, communications, technology, ... whatever it is that is interesting to you.  Its the MBA that is important.

  3. Major - probably either marketing, advertising, or communications. Marketing departments usually decide on both the product and advertising campaigns while advertisers and those who study in communications with a focus on advertising usually make the ads.

As for easy to find the job, it'll depend on where you live and you need a strong competitive drive to make it in that field. Good luck!
