for most consecutive years where his team made the playoffs?

I know the Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera both have a streak of 13 years (1995 - 2007). In fact both of them have had their entire career included post season play. Has any other player exceeded this number of years?

  1. I guess they are getting into Henri Richard, Bernie Geoffrion and Wayne Gretzky territory now.

  2. your answer is correct

  3. i think you answered your own question...amazing, isn't it? (their record, i mean).

aside to mark (above): hey you're a good looking guy, there, mark. Do you really look like your avatar, too? lol.

  4. Im sure theres more but John Smoltz has been with the Braves since 1988 and Chipper Jones has been there since 1993.

Edit: Sorry just read the full question...i dont think there is actively cuz the Yankees are the only team to make the playoffs every one of those years.

  5. John Smoltz has a string of 14, from 1991 through 2005, allowing that (a) there was no postseason in 1994 and (b) he missed the entire 2000 season following surgery, but was still under contract with the Braves.

When I detail the conditions, it means that I have thought about them. Really. The question asked "...his team made the playoffs", not whom had the most consecutive years of postseason play.

  6. Actually Smoltz didn't have 13 consecutive seasons.  Without even going into the strike year, Smoltz was injured in 2000, which makes him have streaks of 8 yrs and 5.  So it seems it is Jeter and Rivera.

Edit:  You can Add Posada to that group, especially if you count Smoltz's injured year, because he played 1 game in 1995.
