Also do you think i should do a Ph.D-MD combined major, if so about how long after college is that and do you have any college suggestions for those majors, for college suggestion im a senior in high school, A- average, High level AP classes, many extra curricular activities, but average SATS at 1650, i plan to take a condensed class, so those should go higher

  1. Your major doesn't matter a lot, though something chemical or biological is good.  People always post here about how it's refreshing when people with diverse interests apply to med school.

You have plenty of time to think about a Ph.D.  If you know you're going to be a clinician and not do research, it's a waste of 2 or 3 years.  There's no huge career advantage to having both degrees.  Most folks take at least 5 years to get a Ph.D. alone, and I think it's reasonable to expect to take at least 6-7 years to get an M.D./Ph.D.

  2. I say always go with the general Biological Science because that way you still have plenty of room to go into anything that you want to. You use the word, "plan" which isn't that confident, so you don't want to stick yourself in a more specified major because you will have trouble backing out of it in the long run.
