  2. Usually people major in chemistry or biology because most of your prerequisites will be part of those majors. Nursing is a good option if you want your BS to be worth something, but it will take you more than 4 years because nursing is so involved and its a lot of work if you don't want to be a nurse.

  3. 4 years undergraduate study (college), 4 years medical school, 1 year surgical internship, 5-7 years neurosurgery recidency.

    You can major in anything you like in college as long as you complete all of your medical school pre-requirements.  Also, having said that, it would probably help majoring in a science since you will be studying a lot of sciences in medical school!

  4. Nursing! Just in case the whole 12 years of additional school thing doesn't work out.... you've got a well-paid back-up plan!
