  1. There is a specialty of civil engineering called structural engineering.  Structural engineers, among other things, take designs from architects and figure out what size beams and columns are needed for the design to work.

  2. Depends on what you mean by "designing it". The architect is the artist who envisions what the final building will look like, but the civil engineer is the one who does the engineering to make it work.

There is probably some overlap in these two jobs, but that is the basic breakdown. Do you lean towards art, or engineering?

  3. Architecture, Architect degree would do you good.

  4. Start with Drafting and Design. Then if you dig where it's going go into architecture.

  5. I worked in construction design for 5 years.  If you want to design how the building is laid out and be the one in charge you want to be an architect.  I though at one time I wanted to be an architect but it is more of an artistic degree and the engineering degrees are more scientific.

  6. Architectural engineering, as the name implies, is a mix of both architecture and engineering.  You might consider trying this if you want dabble in both disciplines.
