What make a person stay on a dead end job when they have the opportunity to better themselves?

  1. for most people it laziness, fear or a low self esteem thinking that dead end job is all they are worth.


  2. It is their mindset.  They think that is as far as they can go.  But the

    reality is,   they can go farther,  if they just put their minds to it.

  3. Maybe they would rather be a w***e.

  4. They are afraid of change sometimes they like the postion they are in in just depends on the person.

  5. Fear.  Fear of failure, fear of responsibility, fear of the unknown, etc.

  6. Fear and risk of the unknown vs. stability and familiarity.

  7. Mostly it's fear of failure.

    Sometimes, it's plain laziness. They're too lazy to learn new things (my dad was like this -- he worked the same, dead-end job for more than 20 years, and was miserable the whole time - but he also had no ambition to do anything more with his  'career").
