I would still like to stay in the $300 range. My daughter just turned 10 and is 5'1". I had her fitted the frame was 14.5 and the tires were 26". She will not be a heavy rider just recreational. We were shown a Jamis (no pressure - salesperson understood we were sizing and looking around)

  1. at this time of year, that's a tough question to answer. most shops inventories are down, as many bikes are sold out. get the bike she's most comfortable on. it'd be a shame to just buy a recommended brand, then have her not like it. nothing bad about the jamis, but I'd try to find a few more that meet her criteria before making the purchase.

  2. mountain bikes

  3. giant mountain bike

  4. One word of caution; your daughter is at the age where she should have a very large growth spurt over the next year, so make sure you get a bike she will be able to ride even with three or four inches of extra height.  I'm assuming she is looking at adult bikes in the smallest frame sizes, but do a bit of shopping around and try to get a bike that is almost too big so that it will still fit her next summer.

You mention 26" wheels, so again I assume this is a mountain bike she's looking for?  It's usually recommended that the ride have 3-4 inches of clearance over the crossbar on that style, but you can get away with less for the time being, as soon she will grow enough to have really proper fit.

  5. get a specialized one specialized.com very cool bikes and quite affordable

many choices of sizes types ages let me know what u did or choose!

  6. well if she likes bmx, tricks, or just playing around, the DK01 General Lee might come in the right size. if its on the streets, and those 50 mile races, sorry, im no help.

    GOOD LUCK!
