  1. Not hated she is a blown up stereotype about half black white children that are not in touch with the black side of their heritage(she lives in an all white  community)and her father  is the Uncle Tom sell out stereotype(his name is TOM DUbois for god sake..lol)

She has become friends with the newly arrived black kids Huey and Riley, but eventhough she feels she needs to be firned with them she has trouble relating to them

  2. I don't think she is hated, but her attitude is quite annoying. She's very naive and because she is a product of an interracial marriage...she thinks everything is fine. All of this is acknowledged by the other characters but at the same time ignored because she's 'oh so cute with her big pretty eyes'. She needs an *** whooping if you ask me.

LoL @ her dad being an Uncle Tom. I think the concept of Tom Dubois' character (Jasmine's father) is to show two sides. One, he's a Black man and two, he's successful. There are times where he is indeed being an Uncle Tom and other times he feels pressured to not be the stereotypical Black person who is always too quick to assume. He's a lawyer and he wants to follow all the rules...I'll just say it...he's naive too.

  3. Just a stab in the dark, but it could be the fact that she's clueless and has an Uncle Tom mentality.  I don't think she's as much hated as pitied.
