At the R.N.C we were told he held out until the very end...........His journey began Oct 26th 1967. He broke in August of 1968 after only 4 days and went on to denounce America. He was released on March 14 1973. Maybe my math is wrong but that wasn't until "The very end" As old Rudy Fooliani said last night. At this point I am very undecided. I just don't know who we can trust, very perplexing time indeed :(

In August 1968, a program of enhanced interrogation began on McCain. He was subjected to rope bindings and repeated beatings every two hours, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery. Further injuries led to the beginning of a suicide attempt, which was stopped by guards. After four days, McCain made an anti-American propaganda "confession". He has always felt that his statement was dishonorable, but as he would later write, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine." His injuries left him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head. He subsequently received two to three beatings per week because of his continued refusal to sign additional statements. Other American POWs were similarly tortured and maltreated in order to extract "confessions" and propaganda statements

  1. The second paragraph describes why he is a hero. I will not support him for President but his service to this country is undeniable.

  2. Champion in gathering wealth.

    McCain's Million Dollar Parking Lot

So not only does John McCain have at least 10 properties he can't remember, but he also owns a parking lot in Phoenix Arizona worth between $1.4 and $2.4 million. That's over $1 million more than the average American home.

  3. Because he was offered leave, but he instead let the man who had been there longer leave. He is a hero because he held out through it all, and loves his country.

  4. I had a small group leader at PLDC (Primary Leadership Development Course) at Camp Jackson, Korea.  He was a Staff Sergenat and took part in SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) training.  For a week he had to live in a cage that was submersed in water, was told to salute a flag that was not the American flag (he didn't), and was barely given and food or water.  The Army trains worst case scenarios, so we can be better prepared for battle. My SGL passed the test with flying colors after two weeks of this c**p.  McCain only lasted 4 days.  Here is the Code of Conduct for those of you who do not know any better: Code of conduct

SERE training is intended, above all, to provide students with the skills needed to live up to the US military code of conduct when in uncertain or hostile environments. It is recited as follows:

    1. I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense. 2. I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command I will never surrender those under my command while they still have the means to resist. 3. If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy. 4. If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information nor take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way. 5. When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause. 6. I will never forget that I am an American, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

  5. A hero can be in anyone and I agree military service is not the only way you can become a hero. A hero is defines as a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities. McCain has been in the Senate 22 years and has achieved much h**l I am an independent leaning democrat and I once liked him (back in 2000) but  his current actions are anything less than noble.

McCain is saying and doing whatever to get elected. He is pandering to the far right. As a christian myself I hold certain beliefs but I do not thing that my beliefs should be forced on to others as the christian right does.

Yes John McCain was a POW and he was tortured for his country at the Hanoi Hilton and now he is in favor of torture. Well if it was wrong when they did it to him it is wrong now.

A true Hero isn't afraid to face criticism when doing what is right in my estimation McCain is no Hero.

  6. I don't think the term "hero" would describe John McCain in any sense.  About the POW torture, I would just call him "unlucky," but certainly not a hero.

  7. / After all that, you don't understand?  Maybe, you should repeat Kindergarten until you get it.

  8. are you answering your own question...because you did a very good job

  9. Hmmm after suffering all that and you still stand behind Bush woo he needs help. I think he is still suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. As an American soldier who served in iraq you would think my vote would be with a veteran. When in reality this is a really hard pick but I think I'm going to go with the lesser of 2 evils. I don't want another 4 yrs of Mini Bush which is what Mccain is turning out to be. American needs a change. In my eyes he is a survivor which turned him into a hero but not anything any other soldier could do.

  10. you have a lot to learn

  11. How long could you hold out??  And YES, he is an American Hero because he stepped up and did what thousands of other soldiers have done.  He fought so that you could ask stupid questions like this without fear of persecution or imprisonment.  Exactly what has Obama done for this country?  By the way has Obama said where all the money is going to come from for all of the programs he is proposing?  None of the taxes that he will impose on the working class will affect him, he will be making millions.  Think about this, McCain has said he will give tax breaks to big corporations, if they don't get those tax breaks they will go overseas where it is cheaper to do business, if the get the tax breaks they stay here, the jobs stay here and our economy becomes stronger.... And you it isn't who you can trust it is who will s***w the middle class and who won't.

  12. hmmm casue he is an old man who complains and plus he looks like hes a leader of the kkk klan

  13. During his torture he refused to allow his captors to release him until all other captives, who were captured before he was, were released first.

    Good enough for me.

I was in Viet Nam in '63, for 6 months, how long were you there?

Praise God I was not captured, how about you?

  14. the only thing that makes a failure a hero is the media

to me someone who's lost 4-5 jets

    almost sunk an aircraft carrier

    got himself captured..

changed all his positions in exchange for bush's endorsement.

supported bush 90% of the time

wants to continue a war of profit that is damaging us image relations reputation and very soul.

is not much of a success...

he's just another sellout to the people who installed the inside trading war time deserting drunk driver as president.

both of them rode their fathers coattails to where they are.  they're both losers

wanna pick a hero? try someone who never lost a jet.. someone who was an ace.. choose a success.. not a dismal failure.. a reject..

mcain a hero? no way.. he was just a pow.. he should get health care to cover that.. but that's it... he shouldnt get a position in govt to allow his dismal chain of failures to continue.

elect a winner.. not a mcain or bush.

  15. McCain is a real life hero, one we real Americans are very proud of.
