I might be a bit biased because i am Lebanese, but i think that since we have 18 different sects in Lebanon we have to learn at some level how to accept other people. Plus many countries have had significant influence at different times in Lebanon leading the people to acquire a bit of everything  ( most of the young population actually speaks arabic, english, and french). I can think of a thousand different reasons ( Beirut is historically the hub of the middle east, touristic, and with a significant portion of foreigners at all times.)

I tried to avoid the "we rock" answer, but we really do.

well probably the fact that there is a large amount of christians in the country.. so its not so strict. Also I think the people try to be more up to date and not so old fashion. Honestly I dont see anything different with lebanese from americans. Except americans dont like to party and go to clubs as much :) Oh and you have the whole plastic surgery thing.. but you could compare leb to california I guess. :)

Having had many other cultures dominate them over the centuries their mindset is not typically arab ....they seem to have successfully blended elements of european cultures with those common to the area & formed this unique style that is so endearing & captivating...

The same can be said of other aspects of Lebanese makeup ....cuisine , language  , dance , music ......
