I've heard that a lot of Americans are retiring in San Miguel. Any reason why? Does its proximity to Guanajuato have anything to do with it?

  1. its a nice town ive lived here for two years and there is a lot of retired people here americans and lots of canadians too theres lots of  nice restraunts bars a lot of art  the weather is very nice  the whole year  and i dont know if it has anything to do with guanajuato its nice there too

  2. I agree with mad mex and weechi.  It is a beautiful town with great weather and lots of activity.  The real estate prices are through the roof.  I don't know how the natives can afford to live there.  Americans have brought prosperity to the town, but they are also making too much of a mark (in some people's opinion) on the local culture.

  3. Good mild weather all year around;

    Given that is a mid size town, price of property and food are very affordable;

    Because it is a touristic town and there are already a good number of American and Canadian retirees, there is a fairly good support for English speaking people, including books, real estate agents, etc.

  4. probably the fact that there are so many americans already there.  it's pretty, the weather is nice, it's steriotypically "mexican," it's safe, etc... but now it's so overpriced because of americans.  when i was there i was more hounded by older american men than by street vendors.  seriously.  i don't think it's proximity to guanajuato has anything to do with it, no.
