  1. He invented it. Before King, there was no such genre as Horror.... yes, really. He started it when Carrie was first published.

  2. Stephen King has a wonderful literary style that most who only know him a a horror novelist miss entirely. People seem to forget "Shawshank Redemption", "The Green Mile"and "Apt Pupil". Kathy Bates, a great actress seems to like him alright she's brought to screen two of his characters, Dolores Claiborne and Annie Wilkes from "Misery". Very little of horror fiction these days is original or heartfelt. Few books can sincerely scare you on one page and make you cry on the the next... this man almost effortlessly delivers both.

  3. I'm not sure he is "master" but he has some quite good books. On the top of it, he produces them every now and again - don't really know how many are they, more than 30 to date. I even think the guy is obsessed by evil.

  4. i don't know either. I have an older sister and she loves Stephen King but I never had a chance to read his books.

  5. He's not only talented but downright spooky!  He is my all time favorite author!

Other authors include his wife Tabitha King, John Saul, Anne Rice.  There are so many good writers I can't think of anyone else off hand.  I usually go to the library and randomly pick a book that's excerpt on the back cover looks interesting.

  6. what rockfan said.

The man is crazy! You can't come up with so many ideas like that and be normal.  But he uses it well.

    Thank goodness he found writing.

  7. Although he is not a particularly great writer he comes up with original ideas and stories.

    J.K Rowling

    Philip K. d**k

    Thomas Harris
