What makes Sweden so wonderful?

I am an American who spent this past Christmas in Stockholm and it was the best Christmas I've ever had. I spent both Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day walking around Stockholm and I just felt this amazing sense of peace and tranquility that I've never felt anywhere else. I felt like I was in my new home. I don't speak Swedish but I learned a few words to let the Swedes know that I really enjoyed being there. The people were so nice. I want to live there.

  2. Hi

Well, all of us at the Swedish tourist board would like to thank you for your question.

    Take care

  3. It's interesting to hear what you say. It conflicts a little with our own image of ourselves...I think most Swedes would agree that nature and social equality are important. But we don't think that we're any good at upholding traditions...

I guess it helps coming here around Christmas, Easter (or  Midsummer!) if you want to experience that, though.

  4. My daughter is married to a Swede. He asked me if I minded him marrying her and taking her away. I answered no. To anyone else I would have but to him no, he is just perfect.

  5. To begin with everyone is well cared for from cradle to grave.  I think when people don't have to worry about their health system, free education as well as many other social aspects that contribute to a much more relaxed lifestyle then their natural "juices" just seem to flow.  We could all learn by their system instead of competing for the almighty dollar we would all be better off.  Taxation may appear high by our standards but the benefits outweigh the costs.  No one seems to go without anything there.  It's time we copied their socio-economic model which has proven itself over and over.

  9. ummm....i  like the hot chicks who carry around the beer in skimpy outfits <3

  10. The people there are so nice. They are so friendly :D

  11. They've done their level best to stay out of wars, and make the best out of what the rest of the world is fighting over. They've tried to be "under the radar", so to speak. Good luck to them. Very peaceful people.

  12. The people - they care about each other, about their work and about nature.

Caring about each other has resulted in giving up their own money (in the form of high taxes) to ensure everyone has access to health care, free quality education and a guaranteed basic standard of life. Also, they have one of the longest periods of annual leave in the EU, which gives them time to spend with their families. State support for children and families also gives them both time and money to enable them to devote time to their loved ones.

They care for their work - they have created a high tech industry, where ingenuity and hard work is valued and awarded. They work together rather than compete with each other. The industry provides the high standard the whole society enjoys.

They always consider the impact on nature of the industry - that and the quality of the product come first , not the profit.

That is the key to their success - people always come first.
