They're amazing, but does anyone know why it works like it does? My friends guessed that it was what it's made of. Any help?

  1. "Miracle Thaw is a Teflon-coated aluminum tray

that can only achieve the accelerated defrosting or

thawing depicted in the advertisements referred to in

Paragraph 8 if it is preheated before use and reheated

during use. Similar results could be achieved with any

    aluminum pan."

Aluminum does have a very high thermal conductivity, and will will indeed transfer heat from room temperature air to anything colder.  It just doesn't work as fast as advertised, although it would be faster than setting frozen meat out on a china plate, for example.
