OK.. so this is the QUESTION that got reported...

please if you have a problem with it mail me or something!

.. and nrl people stick to your own section.

So anyways, what make a true supporter?

ok, so I'm not saying this is it as such.. but here's how I go about supporting my club!

I try to go to as many games as possible...

I try to buy membership every year.. helping the club financially!

When I go to a match..

I support my club no matter if they're 200 points up or 200 points down or somewhere in between.

I don't put down my players or club when they make mistakes AND I'm not biased towards my club. (I know they're not perfect.. and I know that say, Geelong is a better team at the moment!)

other things..

I don't change clubs.. or I don't stop following them or deny I am a supporter just because they are doing bad.

I don't always tip my team cos even the top teams lose a game or two.

ok.. so I can't think of anything else right now..

So what do you guys & girls think?

  1. I follow Collingwood was born there 65yrs ago have barracked for them for 60yrs don't go to many games these days but I always listen to the radio and the tv if they are on and at the same time always tape the game as well, with deleting the ads, then usually watch it again after it has finished

  2. **A true supporter is someone who buys a membership every year and endeavours to go to as many games as possible - they do this regardless of whether their team has lost every game that year or won every game that year.

They are honest enough to admit which of their players isn't great and those that are fantastic.

Finally I think another reflection is when fans will sit out in all weather conditions to watch their team and not leave early.  It shouldn't matter if it's snowing, the players have to get out there and play so the supporters should get out there and support them!!**

  3. if they spit on a afl jumper bag afl all the time

  4. I dont understand how your question got reported, but i guess the NRL losers are harrassing everyone atm :(

I totally agree with you 100% mate - that is a TRUE and loyal supporter.

I would add this to your list:

Battle the crowded trains or MCG carpark in Melbourne

Rain, wind and cold weather wont be used as an excuse to not go to the footy!

  5. I think the true supporter actually believes it when they say ..."oh well, there's always next year".  Possibly why I've always admired say Doggies - longer suffering than we Cats - supporters along with Richmond, Saints and Melbourne (though I'm old enough to actually remember the glory days of two of those three clubs anyway!).

Membership is a big sign but I will say the clubs don't offer good packages for interstate supporters.  I reckon they could charge you the full amount give you access to say three games and a jumper perhaps and give you access to finals tickets.  I only joined up when I became pretty confortable but I'm wasting 8 to 10 admissions each year!  I reckon THAT'S dedicated!!!

And you're right - hating other clubs or being biased is no bloody use at all.  If it wasn't for the other fifteen clubs we wouldn't have a 13-1 record at the moment!!  Your team would be consigned to playing with themselves ... sort of like Port Adelaide :-)

  6. you are a TRUE afl supporter.

i go to as many games a possible lining up in the earlier hours of the morning for the chance of getting a ticket  (many eagles fans in Perth) even when the game isn't going to be great and plus its gonna be raining, I'm not a member but pay $50 a year to be on the "waiting list" (yes, west coast have a waiting list, 10,000 in fact) and get a few goodies. i can never tip against my team. will support them until the day i die. i have so much merchandise is not funny, i can admit (as much as i don't like to) eagles are doing very poor this year, however i respect what they have done for as in the past and it makes up for one down season.  i love the culture of my club, and support them in their darkest days.

I JUST LOVE WEST COAST EAGLES!

i didn't know how patriotic i could be. wow.

    EDIT:

all your reasons for being a true supporter are correct and i couldn't think of many more, so i didn't add many extras besides the weather factor. i guess that means i just rambled and ranted about my passion for the eagles when it wasn't even the question... that's embarrassing :P

  7. Exactly what you said. i feel like im a true supporter of my team, im always going to their games whenever i can and im saving up so i can sponsor one of the players on my team. a true supporter never puts down their team and is always there to defend them. i think my team is awesome even when they are playing average football. Go Pies!

  8. You've just said it all mate.

Anyone who changes clubs or only barracks for the top teams arn't a true afl club supporter.

But I think I disagree with the last one because you can tip your team every week and still be a true supporter, actually I think that makes you a even better supporter because you'd prefer to tip your team and lose the game than to tip the other team and win a little bit of money later on. I think if you tip your team every week it doesn't mean you're cocky and confident, it just means you value your team more than money.

I think a true supporter doesn't have to do much they just have to love their team.

  9. being a trus supporter means sticking by your team through the hard times

being a tigers fan i know this

every year we dissapoint but every year i put my money where my mouth is and buy my membership

  10. I'd ahve to agree with yours, you are a true supporter mate =)

Well I like to think I am also a true supporter, and some of the things I do are:

I have never and will never tip against my team.

I try to stay until the end of every match I attend, even if we are getting thrashed.

I have never considered changing teams (That's just stupid)

I TRY not to abuse our players when they are performing badly (that's hard sometimes!)

Although I have never seen my team win a premiership, I will stick by them (Man, I wish I was alive in 1990!)

  11. noone in here reports answers, it must be those dumb nrl supporters, if it gets reported just send them an email and tel them the situation and i think they delete the persons account who reported you if its a reasonable explanation

    anyway...

you are a true supporter mate, by going to games and watching games is a true supporter

oh and staying until the end of the match

good on you sharna for supporting your eagles when they are in trouble

  12. when u follow a c**p team like west coast and still come on here thinking they can beat richmond

a true fan but brainless one

  13. A true supporter sticks with their club in the bad times and not just the good times.

Look how Geelong supporters stuck with them even though it took over 40yrs to win the cup but they are finally getting their rewards for all those frustrating years of hoping this will be the year.

  14. Going to every game you possibly can

Having a really good feeling inside when they kick a goal

Going crazy inside after a goal or free kick against your team

    Definitely a membership

Trying to get into the cheer squad

    The Merchandise

Cheering and staying till the end even if your team is getting slaughtered

No matter how bad there going sticking by them

    Never ever changing clubs

  15. LOYALTY, PASSION, PRIDE!

Standing by your club. GO EAGLES!

  16. Good on ya posting the question again! Nothin wrong with it!

I think youve covered all true supporter bases..

I believe passion makes a true supporter..

I cant believe some of the bias c**p that falls outta my mouth wen I'm at a game.. Things I'ld never rightly say in public..

I feel a little sheepish sometimes but I get so wrapped up in the game and the urge for my team to go the distance..

    Passion...

  17. you my friend are a true afl supporter... i like to think that i am a "true" West Coast supporter, i have been through the bad times and the best times and still have my membership (soooo hard to get here :S) i was almost heartbroken when we lost Judd and Cousins last year :(

  18. A true supporter will follow their team through the good times and the bad. Im a disappointed dockers supporter but wont change teams because they will get their act together one day!

  19. Firstly being a member of the club if you really want to support you club. Go to as many games as you can and watch every game on TV. I have followed the Crows from the very first game. We lost lots of games in the beginning then went to back to back premieres in 97/98. If you stick with your team the good things do come. Look at what the Bulldogs are doing now true Bully's supports can't wipe the smiles off their faces.

  20. how many beers you can down per quarter

3 per quarter so maybe 12 per game

is a true sigh of a good fan
