My friend has an 81 Mustang and I have a 87 El Camino SS but are they considered classic cars? The Mustang doesn't seem like it would be, because it doesn't have the same body style as the older and newer ones. In the end are either of these cars a classic car and what makes a car a Classic?

  1. 25 years old or more and a desirable model.

  2. A car still in running condition that also still looks nice that is 25 years old or older is considered a classic.

  3. Not quite sure.  The article here http://nationaltransportllc.com/blog/ on classic cars is kind of intresting.  Some of the classic "favorites" are cars you totally would not expect.

  4. 20 + years and American made.  Better if everything is stock and original paint..  but a classic is defined as such.

  5. if it's 20+ years old, in good, running condition, preferrably all-stock, and is a make and model that was the hottest thing in the market in its time.

  6. Yes, 20 plus years is a good start.  But let me say this, if you have the last year that El Camino was made, AND it's an SS... OMG, lol, you have a cherry.  You have the bucket seats and console?

If this is the case, I would not part with that car for anything.  I had to when we had another child and I wish I would have done more to hang onto it.

Take good care of that jewel, IT'S A CLASSIC, and quite rare!
