I am watching coverage of practice from yesterday on SPEED channel. They say a car set up to race at Monaco is special. What is different in the set up for cars at Monaco that makes them special? Why would they not be raced anywhere else?

  1. Monaco in my opinion is a glorified street exhibition. Qualify well and it's likely a driver will do well. I'd say it's  team strategy that makes a car special.

  2. monaco setup requires maximun aero grip, biggest break ducts, and a notched front suspension to accomidate the increased oppositlock required to make it around the hair pin

  3. More wheel lock than usual to take the Lowe's hairpin.

  4. Because of all the bumps, they need to be raised higher than on any other track, about 5mm more which is a lot in F1.   There are more bends and corners in Monaco than there are straights so they need good mechanical grip and teams usually set their aerodynamics to run maximum downforce for good cornering.
