Okay, okay, I know the seed debate. So, by definition, a tomato is a vegetable. This makes pumpkins, squash, and even peppers a fruit. But...

What the heck is a seedless watermelon? I think watermelons are fruit, but because seedless watermelons lack seeds...

  1. Fruits grow above the ground and Vegetables grow below the ground or partially below.

    Also fruits are symmertrical....i think

  2. Hi Johnny, I quite agree with you on this one. Peppers have seeds and they are most definately vegetables. We could debate this for hours and not come to a satisfactory conclusion. Watermelons are definately a fruit. Seedless fruits are fruits that have been developed to possess no seeds, generally to make consumption easier and more convenient. They are therefore considered commercially valuable. Most commercially-produced seedless fruits have been developed from plants whose fruits normally contain numerous relatively large hard seeds distributed throughout the flesh of the fruit.

  3. Tomatoes are in fact fruits, not vegetables. The seedless watermelons would have grown seeds were they given the time but I think they pick them before they are able to develop them. How would the seedless watermelon be around if it had no seeds, the thing that makes them reproduce!
