  1. You have to have good escapes to counter the grapplers and get back to your game.

  2. Sprawling against the take down, countering the take down by stepping over the opponent's leg when need be, quickly and violently torquing your own hips against a hip toss and going straight into a quillotine choke from the end of an attempted hip toss and remembering that jujitsu isn't called "the gentle art" for nothing, in other words, using technique over speed and braun.  Knowing that when most dumbies go to throw a "Thigh Kick" they usually drop the same side hand to power-in the "thigh kick" and waiting for that moment to go straight for the open side of their face with a nice big "Cross" or "Overhand" punch.  Waiting for opportune moments at all times.  Knowing and countering the ground game so well that you never worry about giving up your back like most so-called experts worry over.  Knowing how to keep the opponent's hands seperated so that giving up your back means nothing, but tiring your opponent out while he's on your back fighting for control of his own hands.  Letting him wear him self out with his own strength and speed while you stay completely relaxed through out the fight and use only technique and nothing but.  Regulating your breathing and literally watching your opponent "panic" which is something you can see up close , but is unseen by the public even at a live show.  Feeling your opponent out whether he thinks you'll have time to size him up or not.  Fighting at your own pace, controlling every aspect of every little detail that happens in your fight.  Waiting like a "tiger" hunting his prey for the perfect moment that you know your opponent will make that one big mistake then BOOM!!! K.O.

Knowing which technique to apply to which type of circumstance during your fight and actually applying it when the chance presents its self.  A striker's greatest weapon is patience and calmness through every round he fights.  This is what makes a seasoned striker a hard man to defeat in any fight. And with every thing I've said here "top notch" endurance training. "A clam head always wins the fight" law enforcement even teaches this during hand gun training as well as hand-to-hand training.  A good parent, for example, will tell their kids "The calmest head always wins the fight"

  3. I think Anderson Silva has such great accuracy because of his skinny long limbs which makes his arms move very agile.
