What makes a good play audition?

i was wondering, because i'm auditioning for a play. and i would like a main role.

  1. personality.. don't hold back during your audition, and have fun with it.


  2. Stage presence. This is what a director looks for. It means you must fill the role with truthfulness and reality. Know your part. Understand every nuiance of every line. Speak clearly and project outward so the audience can merge with you as you interact with the other characters. Be confident. This comes with knowing your part. Finally, take any role you are offered, no matter how small. This will show the director that you are willing to play small parts as well as star parts. That will be remembered in future auditiions (directors talk to each other). Break a leg.
