What makes a guy want to sleep with you and not date you?

There's this guy now that I have been hanging out with a lot. We act like a couple according to everyone who knows us but when i asked him if we were just friends or not he said that he didn't know and hadn't decided yet. I recently asked him again about it and he said that hes sorry for leading me on, and that while he really likes having me as a friend that he doesn't know how he'd feel if he was with me. Does this imply that he has no interest in me in this way and is just trying to let me down easy? Or is it possible that he is just trying to be honest and he really doesn't know how he feels? The topic of friends with benefits came up and he asked me: is that what you want? and I told him no but that I would strongly consider it. He said that he would be up for that. What is it that makes a guy want to sleep with you but not date you? Does it just mean that he's not that into me? Is there anything I can do to help convince him that I would be an amazing girlfriend for him?

well he wants to sleep with you cause he finds you hot&attractive, but doesn't really love you so he doesn't want to date you.

i think you're lucky you've found a guy like that cause i think he DOES care about you. at first what he did sounds very cold and like he doesn't give a s**t, but when you think about it, if he really wanted nothing but s*x, it woulda been a lot easier for him to lie and tell you how much he loves you to get you in his bed and then dump you.

he is very attracted to you and also cares about you very deeply. i can tell that he does if it was enough reason to be so honest with you. guys rarely do that. that's why you're lucky and you should stick to this guy, for now, at least.

don't force him into a relationship, go with the friends with benefits arrangement, if you can handle it, just keep him near yourself and i think in time (not so long a time either) he will fall in love with you enough to make you his gf. if he's that honest and open to you like you say he is, then he's already in love, just ain't figured it out yet.
