What makes a nation great?

I agree, with all the people answering this question. You need a leader that will lead people to success. But I'm afraid we all have to dream about that. Because for someone to make money someone has to lose money. Perhaps a nation with out money.

You all see what money doe's to some one.

The ability to question , explore, learn, and a sense of well being of the citizens in it. Not repeat past mistakes.

Libraries, Clean Lakes, an abundant food supply,  respect.

An image held of what people want it to be  a sense of home. Right now there is no sense that Earth is home but it would make a great nation. Tell yourself you are from Earth a citizen of Earth and everyone around you is that everything is going to be all right and think of crisp air soft soil ,fresh cut grass that sort of thing. The ability to trust other people makes a nation great.

Low unemployment,low crime,low inflation,freedom and space.That is the USA

what makes a nation great to me it would have to be Presidents Congress Leaders to lead a war until we achieve peace Congress leaders to pass bills to make our world safer for Children Parents Kids going to school without worrying about War Death

Personally I think it is the people that make the nation great.

Imo it starts with the people. If the people can stand together and be proud and united then you can be nation and be strong. Having the right government is another part. A democracy is the best form of government but it doesn't work for everyone (for example, the middle east is too radical to not be kept down by one ruler). A good economy is also very important. A free market and capitalism benefit everyone even the poor (jobs available). It takes all of these things in the right balance to make a great nation.
