  1. The truth is that everyone is different. But TV shows which type of people are cool and which are not. the "different" people are usually have done things that are "uncool" therefore ignored. In general people are ignorant and stupid.

  2. Because society has forced us to believe that being skinny is the key to happiness.

We are made to believe that we have to look like Carmen Electra or Heidi Klum in order to even be considered pretty. We have to be a size 2 in order to be loved. Or we have to have the charm of Brad Pitt to get anywhere in life.

Things that makes a person different if they'd rather spend time with their mom or dad for a day instead of going to the movies or getting stoned.

To have an extended vocabulary instead of using like, thingy, stuff every few seconds.

  3. People fear the unknown.

    Different is unknown.

We don't seem to have developed the intelligence yet to see that different is usually beneficial or hamless.

We persist thinking of it as potentially threatening, so we try not to deal with it.

  4. i was the 'differnt' kid is school and up until grade 9 was ignored or worse. It just a status thing i beleive. Anything from not looking the right way or having enough money or being awakard around girls. The funny thing is that in middle school all us different kids got together at lunch time and played clue, monopoly, ad libs oh those were awesome times.

anyways in one enviorment (middle school and elemantary) i was the different kid but then i went to a differnt highschool was no longer the different kid so enivorment has to play a mega role.

  5. Everyone is different from everyone else. Some people like dark chocolate some would rather milk chocolate. Making them different from one another. Some people may work 9 - 5 in an office - others are rock stars or poets making them different when compared to one another. I think it's when people TRY to be different. Deliberately setting out to "Stand Out" from the crowd that people become annoyed. Of course this is some people's personality and they can't help but crave all that attention. Does that make them a bad person?

And then there are the quiet ones. People who don't like to stand out. They just do their own thing and maybe because people don't understand them they are ignored.

So in answering your question, there is no simple answer. Because if we were all "different" and the same characteristics made us different  then we wouldn't be different at all - would we.
