What makes a person abandon their child?

Question

my father abandon my mom when she was pregnant with me. i believe that he couldnt have been a good father anyways since he bailed.

but why is it people are willing to have s*x, knowing the consequences of it yet they dont want to stick it out afterwords? my mom kept me and took responsibility for her inactions from that night unlike my father.

what makes a person abandon their own child? are they that pathetic? i think my dad probably did me and my mom a favor bailing cuz someone who would leave a pregnant woman cant be that good of a father.

i just dont know why some people go around having s*x without protection and then dont want to own up to their mistakes...at least my mom had the guts to own up to hers.

Pure selfishness. Anyone who would walk away from children they created is only concerned with themselves and has not a care in the world for who they hurt. My son's father abandoned us while I was pregnant too- he is now 5 and has never met him. I believe he is better off without him, too. Someone who only cares about their own feelings can't be a good parent and I would rather he be absent entirely than stick around and possibly hurt my son over and over again. I'm sorry your father turned out to be such a jerk. I can't understand how some people can be so uncaring. My son was defintely not planned, (I call him a surprise, not a mistake) but if he was a mistake he was the best one I ever made and I'm sure your mom feels the same way! Good luck to you! =]

they dont want a child

their not ready

they dont know what to do!

they dont want to end up hurting you

My dad abandonned me like before i was born or a little after. Only talked to him once and this was the convo (phone)

me: "Hello?"

Dad: "is lila there"

me: Yeah hold on"

My husband's former sister in law abandoned kids TWICE!  She left the 2 kids she had with my bro in law..Then she left the 2 kids she had with her next husband! What a loser!

I feel sorry for you.Your mom is a very good person and your father is a coward.My mom is rasing me by herself.My father I think would have been a great father.He didn't abodan us.He was murdered when my mother was three months preganat with me.But your mom seems like a good mother.Good Luck!
