  1. my husband enlisted in the military because he wanted to do something with his life and he wanted to make his two sons and his family proud. other people may enlist because of patriotism and want to serve their country. its different for everybody.

  2. To all of the above !

what makes you think , he is asking about enlisting in the US army?

In general, people join the army to secure their future, guaranty income and good pension.

But no one told us, that we could be killed, from day one of deployment !

  3. To get that GED.  Then you can out list.  Later you can get a civilian job.  Then you can get out sourced.  Then you can draw un in ployment.

  4. To be all you can be; to be an army of one.

  5. Many things including, but not the strongest reason, patriotism. The Army offers a job and a future. It offers education, training, a structured way of life, excellent medical benefits, early retirement with some of the best retirement benefits in the world. SOme say the wages are not good but when you consider things beyond wages; housing (with no rent, insurance, maintenance or utilities) it great, medical that you pay nothing for (including family coverage), retirement that you do not pay into, opportunities to seek other work and locations while still getting paid, promotions with added income based on your demonstrated skill and desire to learn and achieve;  and educational opportunities very few private or government jobs offer. There are many good reasons for not only an Army career but a career in any of the services.

  6. to fight for there country because they want them to feel proud that at the end of the day they are not just letting evil suceed with there plans but instead fighting for everything they know and believe in and also if you are american you can say ohrah a lot

  7. They want to fight for America's freedom and be proud of our country.

  8. ...it's "enlist".

These days, it's a combination of patriotism/reaction to 9/11 and a preparation/excitement after playing video-games with weaponry/firepower for 10-15 years of their lives. (this is encouraged by the Armed Services)

Otherwise, it's a way to get education, discipline and away from the no-challenge, no-win areas you grew up in -- and join the greatest armed services in Human history, see the world and make 1,000s of friends instantly. It's noble. It's rewarding, and it has its risks -- of course.

  9. enlist, not in list

Need a job, patriotism, family tradition, like soldiering, like war, seeking direction in life, persuasive recruiter, going with friends

  10. enlist.  they are patriotic and don't understand the huge risk to their physical and emotional well-being.  also they see military service as a way to get their education paid for - the GI bill in the US.

  11. Some feel that it is a way out of their situation
