What makes a person scared of the dark! ????

i am pretty afraid of the dark... and this could turn into a weird question lol! i think i know why i am, but what is it in my head that causes me to be afraid... if you know what i mean haha! what happens in your brain to cause fear... and why?

Well from my experiance I found that I was actuly scaired of what MIGHT be in the dark. It drove me crazy!

but one day me and a freind played hide and seek in the dark. I used a dark cape to help me hide in the shadows. and you know what? after a while I pretended I was a shadow. and I got cured! now I dont care about the dark!

though I turned evil as an after effect! ;)

I think it's the fear of the unknown. like you feel something bad could could happen and you may become paranoid. Happens to me sometimes.

There are alot of people afraid of the dark, don't worry your not alone, i sometimes get afraid when i'm alone in the dark. There are a few things that causes the fear of darkness, influences at a young age like night time stories your parents tell you to go to sleep, or maybe even a movie you were uncomfortable in watching. There are alot of causes, but my advice to you is don't worry, just stay with people you trust and stick together :)

There are many reasons as to why people are afraid of the dark. When people were young, they probably were exposed to horror stories, thus creating a sense of fear of the dark (Since most horror stories happen in the dark).

That or simply because you just don't know what you're doing. When it's dark, you don't know where you're going (And no one likes getting lost), and when it's dark you don't know what is around you. No one likes not knowing, so it might create panic amongst people.

Your fear of dark will gradually diminish over time as you mature. Whenever you're in a situation where you're in the dark, use your cellphone or a flashlight (If you were to have one at that time).
