  1. When Light hits a drop of water from one direction, the light reflects off the back of the drop, grabbing the colours, then fans out of the drop at an angle creating the rainbow. It's like when you hold a prisim (crystal) up to the light, the light goes in one side, splits into different beams picking up colors along the way, then shots out of the prisim on an angle showing off the colours.  There is no real purpose of a rainbow, other than mother nature showing us how beautiful she can be.

  2. light!wonderful light! :D  refraction

  3. A rainbow is formed IN YOUR EYE, when light is reflected off of the inside of raindrops.  A rainbow is really just an optical illusion.  You can't touch one, and as you move close to it, it seem to move away from you.  That is why the old legend says that there is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow -- nobody can get to the end of a rainbow!

In order to see a rainbow, the source of light (the sun) must be BEHIND you.  The light from the sun is reflected from the INSIDE of the raindrops at approximately a 42-degree angle.

This reflection produces a prism effect.  That is why you see the colors.

Rainbow has no practical use.  They don't actually "do" anything, because they don't really exist except in your eyes.  So we can fall back on the story of the rainbow in The Bible, Book of Genesis, Chapter 9 Verse 12:

"And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."

The real purpose of the rainbow is to show us that God loves us, each and every one, and that He has made an agreement to never again destroy the world with water.

  4. A rainbow is formed about after the rain, the remaining drops from The rain

acts as a prism that splits light

    into the ROYGBIV colors hehe...

    then that's what u see

and it curves like circle because it follows the shape of the earth round...

hehe... really looks good and nice

makes me fell happy when I see one...
