I'm doing a project about the knowledge issuessurround this question.

Then I have to answer why contemporary art is easily dismissed as not even art (like a bag of garbage, or a single line on canvas.

What are the characteristics that make something a work of art as opposed to not art? What are the fallacies with these guidelines?

Any input would be appreciated, and also web sites talking about this would help?

Why is the drawing of a 5 year old kid not considered a work of art?

  1. It is the people who are willing to buy and promote it that make it a work of art these days and nothing more. People are willing to follow whatever the rich or famous choose to support. With contemporary art it is the emotion involved when various people see it but it always who is willing to support it or artist.
