  1. Its mostly in your head. I personally can go drinking heavily night after night after night without so much as a hangover and then suddenly just not feel like drinking anymore for a while. But I've also known people that claim they have to have a drink every night, and some of them once they have one they have to have another, and another and so on. Its what you call having an "addictive personality." It varies from person to person. I have even read research claiming that addictive behavior can be attributed to genetics and chemical imbalances.

  2. It can be addictive to some people. I would say so more now,as people tend to drink more. Alcohol is like a drug;if it is drunk on regular basis, one has to have more to get the same "high". Persistent consumption of alcohol makes the body tolerant of it,so the more you drink the more the body can consume more.

  3. Because it makes you so cool!!

  4. it's not addictive, but you can become obsessed with it (alcoholism).

    Plus it's good.

  5. Hi,

Although the body can become physically dependent on alchol the most addictive thing is not the alcohol itself but the effect it produces. The loss of inhibition gives a freedom that becomes first a want then a need. Alcohol is deceptively a fantastic friend, never letting you down always giving you that same unwavering feeling of empowerment and freedom...until you cross the line. when alcohol takes control of you instead of you controlling it then the empowerment and confidence is cruelly ripped away. This is when wonderful feelings like paranoia and fear take take their place. Fantastic stuff alcohol.....til it gets you.

Blimey how deep was that rant!

    xx

  6. It gives me a few hours out of my normally pathetic life to feel good!

  7. Any mind-altering substance, of which alcohol is one, can be addictive because our brain and psyche can "crave" or become addicted to the "high" or the altered state of consciousness. Physical dependence is where we've essentially "trained" our bodies to become used to functioning under the load of toxin (e.g. alcohol) and sudden cessation of use creates withdrawals. All drugs including alcohol can be psychologically addictive; many are also physically too.

  8. Because it makes you feel so d**n good!

  9. because its alcohol

  10. Anything that makes you feel good can be addictive, alcohol is just one of them.

  11. its effects! =D

  12. I KNOW this one for sure.

Alcohol taps into your adrenals, and gives you a high.  So does heroin, and cocaine.

  13. Because it is psychologically habituated just like everything else can  be addictive.
