  1. A lot of these guys have good answers. Practice is definately very important but I think the number on reason is his brain. Silva has one of the best minds in MMA and it's something you dont hear a lot about. He's trained so much, learns so quickly, and recognizes things so perfectly that when his opp. makes a movement he knows whats going on, where the other guy is going and hits him when he gets there.

His striking is so precise because he had one the best minds in MMA and recognizes patterns and movements so quickly that in the one minute he's feeling the fight out he judges distance, movement patterns, routines, etc that give him a significant advantage; he knows what the other guy is going to do before he even starts to do it and Silva meets him there with his fists and feet when they get there.

He saw Irvins kick coming, prepared for it, caught it, and fired a straight right before Irvin even had a chance to recognize what was going on.

  2. simple........ his reach

  3. gloves has nothing to do with it.

of course he has precision, he has power, he has speed....the answer to your question is another question...how did he develope those things? ...experience...practice, a good coach, practice, and some more practice and experience added on just in case.

    thats the only secret.

  4. your right precision ,speed and power train with 16 oz gloves and you will get faster and more power because your hands alone are lighter

  5. Freedom. He moves freely. He's light on his feet and has complete control over his body.

I fight under the same principle and my style is almost identical to that of Anderson. When strength and size has never been your forte, (like me) I learned to find a way around it. I keep a pace of agility and freedom that sets me apart from other guys. Anderson Silva does this too, just on a professional level

  6. lots of practice...

thats what makes people good at doing things....

  7. Talent, genetics, practice, his dicipline, coaches, diet, rest.  Just to name a few of the things that he balances.
