I have never owned a bird.  However, I am not running out and getting a bird right now due to 3 reasons:

1.) My apartment, like many apartments, does not allow birds.

2.) My apartment is small.  I wouldn't mind some finches.  However, the constant chirping would eventually wear me down and make me go insane.

3.) You can't exactly snuggle with a bird.
