What will create more torque and acceleration a hard clutch or a softer clutch?

  1. A softer clutch (as long as it's strong enough to hold the power of the engine) will be faster and will be less likely to break gears or axles.

    The soft clutch does not create torque but it allows a higher rpm without wheel spin and the higher rpm puts more power to the ground.


  2. The clutch by itself has very little to do with acceleration. I've never heard of a clutch being "soft" or "hard". Any engine with a lighter, smaller clutch/flywheel assembly will accelerate quicker. Most racers run a multi disc clutch if the rules allow.
