What makes global warming the most important issue in a person's life?

Clearly individuals that have spent a lot of money and time doing climate "science" have an excuse for talking endlessly about it. Others have no such excuse. What would these people be doing if not wringing their hands and worrying about the end of the world? I think cults such as AGW and Scientology are fascinating.

Humans are social creatures that need support groups and the best way to get a big one is a large scale threat or catastrophe that brings unity. Who doesn't want to save the planet?

The taxes...

Global warming is indeed real and has been documented with ice cores dating back tens of thousands of years.

What is NOT real is the quackery that humans caused (or can even affect) global warming.

The scare tactics being perpetrated upon us are only a money/power grab scheme by bottom-feeder politicians accompanied by their so-easily-led sheeple who take their prattle, even their movies, as hard science

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

Humans did not cause it.

Humans cannot stop it.

Age.  the younger you are, the more you'll be affected.

also, where you live.  the more you depend on energy, the more you'll be affected.

concerning why people think it's important, it is.

denying the ozone hole didn't fix it.

denying the problem in Love Canal didn't fix it.

denying Hitler's intent to take over the world didn't fix it.

denying the holocaust didn't fix it.

denying global warming isn't going to fix it.

there were/are people that deny all of those things.  they are/were wrong.  the fact that they laugh at the rest of us doesn't make them right.

keep in mind that the national debt we're building up makes it impossible for us to influence China in any way.  and it won't be long before China dictates what we must do.

"NOT RELEVANT" you say.  ah, but it is.  the debt is there because people are greedy, refuse to take care of the climate, and refuse to pay the debts they build up.  very relevant.

People seem to forget that there were other times in history when the planet was a few degrees warmer then it is now...so the fact that we are paying attention now seems like bullsh*t to me.  It is just people who are bored and not educated on the topic who try and convince others to believe the same thing.  It's great that you have something to believe it...but make sure you are correct in what you are talking about...

Well, just remember a few years ago, it was the 'hole in the ozone'  well we now know what a lie that was,  so there will always be a crises for some, hopeful the next one will ask them to stop breathing in order to help cure the crises.   Then we all will benefit.

It is like scary movies and roller coasters.  They want to be afraid, but not really in danger.

They want to pretend to be in control and care, but only about something that in not real, so they do have to act.

global warming is a fake and everyone knows it.  it is just fun to talk about like the boogyman.

Wow.  Cool.  A covey of global warming deniers.  Let's all tell all the mammals of the Arctic it's just a conspiracy concocted by Al Gore, and that the great majority of climatologists who agree that atmospheric CO2 levels haven't been this high for 100,000,000 years are full of B.S.  We won't lose half our plants and animals within the next 50 years.  The Antarctic won't be the only habitable place on the planet within the next 100 years.  There's absolutely nothing to worry about and we can keep cranking out the same amount of CO2, double it, triple it and we'll all be just fine.  Who needs an environment anyway, as long as we can keep using those wonderful fossil fuels, and killing for them and dieing for them and making the obscenely wealthy even wealthier the paradise that is present day Earth will go on.  What fun.

Liberal politicians are going to see to it that it costs me a lot of money. However, I expect to live long enough to see that like the Global Cooling alarm of the 70's, it will turn out to be a load of horse sh*t.
