I guess that the lower the land, mixed with closeness to the oceans, makes the air very humid. But I am wondering if this applies to land that is near big lakes, no matter high the land is?

  1. it has more to do with the relative humidity of the air. that governs how much moisture the air can adsorb at a given temp. if the relative humidity is low then it will try to adsorb water. only then does availability of water come into play.

  2. If you are near the ocean there is lots of humidity. That is because there is more water vapor in the air and yes you are correct on air being humid by the oceans. Air isn't humid by big lakes at high elevations. If it is at a low enough elevation are theres enough clouds and such then there would humidity.
